GemStone Systems acquired by SpringSource
Our community was shocked with the news about the acquisition of Gemstone Systems by Springsource, a VMware division. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The acquisition would help VMware to advance in its vision for cloud computing. The focus maybe is in GemFire, a product which distributes data to reduce network latency. However, Springsource said that it will continue to fully support GemStone's products. It has been a big debate in our list about this, and the experience with acquisitions in the past. References
