GLASS: Gemstone, Linux, Apache, Seaside and Smalltalk

The Seaside framework provides a layered set of abstractions over HTTP and HTML that can be used for developing sophisticated desktop-like web applications. Seaside was originally developed in Squeak and ports are available for VisualWorks, and Dolphin.

While the Seaside framework elegantly addresses HTML generation and application flow-of-control issues, it still leaves a few challenges for the developer -- including persistence and multi-user coordination.

GLASS -- GemStone, Linux, Apache, Seaside, and Smalltalk -- provides a powerful new way to rapidly create and deploy desktop-like web applications. GLASS makes GemStone's transparent persistence, enterprise scalability, and legendary reliability available to web application developers. By using GLASS, you can focus on developing your application, and not spend any time on complex Object-Relational mapping or other persistence schemes.
