Did you Know that Smalltalk was created in 70's at Xerox?

The use of the mouse, the "copy and paste", the bitblt and others technologies was firstly created in Smalltalk. Steve Jobs saw those ideas at Xerox and he developed a new language, Objective-C.

Smalltalks 2012: Call for Submission/Participation

The Fundación Argentina de Smalltalk (FAST, http://www.fast.org.ar) invites you to the 6th Argentine Smalltalk Conference, to be held on November 7, 8 and 9, 2012 at the Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco located in Puerto Madryn, Argentina.
Everyone, including teachers, students, researchers, developers and entrepreneurs, are welcome as speakers or attendees. Registration is free and now open at http://www.fast.org.ar/smalltalks2012
The goal of the Conference is to strengthen the bonds between the Argentine and the international Smalltalk community through the exchange of works, experiences and anecdotes connected with this technology and related matters.
As in the previous editions, renowned members of the international Smalltalk community will visit us, and like last year we will have a Research Session with publications reviewed by an international committee.
Also, the traditional Industry Track will be available for those who prefer a more practical environment. You can submit papers or talks now through our website at

Alan Kay will give a remote keynote at the Smalltalks 2012 conference!

The news has been confirmed by the organization commitee. Alan Kay will give a remote keynote at the Smalltalks 2012 conference.

Smalltalks 2012, registration available!

The Fundación Argentina de Smalltalk (FAST) proudly invites you to participate in the sixth edition of one of the most exciting Smalltalk conferences around Smalltakers from every corner of the world will attend this international event. Outstanding guest personalities from the community will deliver the conference keynotes. This is an opportunity you do not want to miss!
Smalltalks 2012 will feature a research track for papers, complete with published proceedings and an outstanding program commitee. As always, the conference will also feature an industry track for those preferring a more informal setting.

The Smalltalks series of conferences (www.fast.org.ar) is a lively forum on Smalltalk-based software technologies that brings together more than 200 people from both academia and industry for a period of three days.
Past editions of Smalltalks have included many high-quality presentations from industry and research. These contributions have shown interesting applications of Smalltalk, advances in the Smalltalk language, didactic uses of Smalltalk and so on.
Similar to last year, Smalltalks 2012 will include a dedicated research track. We welcome submissions to this research track presenting original scientific contributions to, or using, Smalltalk in general.
Topics of interest include, but are not restricted to:

-Ambient Intelligence, Ubiquitous / Pervasive Computing and Embedded Systems.
